I would like to introduce project called PyWPS - Python Web Processing
Service. It's goal is to bring functionality of GIS GRASS (and other
tools) to the internet or just to the local networks.
PyWPS is trying to implement OGC's WPS 0.4.0 (draft) standard 05-007r4.
User can write his/her simple or complex scripts in Python
programming language, using modules of GIS GRASS or other CLI-oriented
tools, pywps downloads the data from remote servers, perform desired
calculations and serve the data back to the client. User can work on
temporary Locations, which will be deleted after the calculation is
done or (s)he can work with existing Locations (using temporary mapset).
There is existing demo implementation of PyWPS on the URL
With sample processes, demonstrating usage of GRASS modules
(see section under the map)
NOTE: The Web client is not part of PyWPS. PyWPS together with GIS GRASS
is used "behind" this interface to perform all needed calculations.
Currently development has arrived to version 0.1 RC 1, which implements
the WPS definition to 90-95%. Licence of PyWPS is GNU/GPL. For more
details visit the URL http://les-ejk.cz/?cat=pywps
where you can also get latest copy of PyWPS.
I would like to ask for some feedback from those of you, who are interested
in this topic and could install the script and perform some testing.
If you have developed some GIS application and you would like to serve it to
internet, so other people could use it without need to install any
desktop-GIS software, PyWPS is what you are searching for.
Looking forward to your feedback
P.S. Sorry for the cross-posting
