Hi there! I've just started a project for a non-governemental-organization and I'm pretty lost with all...

We decided to use alov since it's a free map server. I had some experience with Mapguide in the past, but I worked only as a developer customizing the Applet interface. Now I have a BIG problem in my hands.

We have a set of DWG maps containing some terrain information, about some Rainforest trees. There's a total of 6000 trees that are represented in the Drawing and in a MSAccess DB, we have the coordinates for each tree.

What I need is to discover how to transform those maps into a *.shp files and also how to cross the data in the DB and the map, by saying so, I mean how do I "tell" the server that a specific point in the drawing corresponds to a record in the database.

Can I add a new record to the database and automatically change the drawing? I mean the points are plotted on the fly?

I know there's a lot of questions here, but if anyone could at least point me to some tutorials, FAQs, or sites with help, would be just perfect.

Thanks to all

Yahoo! GeoCities
