Hello Markus Müller, Brent, and Paolo,

thank you for your answers. - Markus, I have some questions concerning
deegree and the realtime aspect:

1. So did I understand that correctly, deegree supports hosting of
static 3D data in a database and its display via WTS?
2. I would like to efficiently display realtime data (GPS positions)
e.g. as moving (vector-) dots over a map, ideally the 3D map, but
maybe display over a 2D map would be sufficient. The option for
later 3D display would be good, however. The idea is to stream the
incoming GPS data directly to the client for fast display, but
parallelly branching a copy of it to a server sided database for
latter review (to be able to rewind, pause, play,...) by the user
(via the client). Could I realize such an application with deegree
as the server and maybe NVIZ as a
viewer (client)? That was what I
had in mind when asking for the combination with GRASS GIS (which
uses NVIZ). So if there would be a way (even with 2D maps only)
with deegree and the realtime data I would be happy.

So I am looking forward to your answer, thank you again for the help
so far.

Best regards,

Peter.
