Hm, there havn't been a lot of answers to these questions not to say none. I
am not sure what that exactly means:
1. Do you think my idea is stupid?
2. Are you not interested?
3. Do you think my idea is great but you have not time to vote for it?

Any idea how I should proceed?

Perhaps some background information helps in this situation:
The GAV (the German association for the promotion of Free GIS Software and
Free Geodata)[1] is currently planning to simplify the access to the FreeGIS
world for newbies. Our idea is to enhance the FreeGIS portal with some meta
information that describes the most relevant entries in FreeGIS based on
categories like components and functions (as proposed as new categories for
FreeGIS). So for example a page about Desktop GIS would at least mention the
Jump family, uDIG, QGIS, GRASS and Thuban. Additionally this page provides IS
links to FreeGIS to every single entry as well as to the search results for
all Desktop GIS in FreeGIS.

During the planning phase we found out that FreeGIS is not yet supporting this
way of organizing the entries. Thus we thought that we first should introduce
the categories themself before we give an overview over the most important
members of each category and how they are connected.

So, what do you think about this approach?
