Einmal auf Deutsch:
Der OGC Standard SymbologyEncoding (ehemals SLD) defniert eine XML Sprache zur Definition von karthographischen Zeichenvorschriften für Geodaten. AtlasStyler ist eine Java/Swing Anwendung welche die Erstellung solcher SLD/SE-Dokumente benutzerfreundlich abstrahiert. Der Benutzer kann Punkt, Linien und Polygon-Daten laden (z.Zt. nur als ESRI Shapefile) und diese dann per Mausklick labeln und klassifizieren. Es wird kein XML oder SLD/SE Vorwissen benötigt. Es werden Verfahren wie Klassifikation von 'Unique Values' und 'Colored Quantities' angeboten. Die Klassifikation von rationalskalierten Daten kann manuell, nach 'gleichen Abständen' oder nach Quantilen erfolgen. AtlasStyler ist an eine Online-Datenbank mit Open-Source SLD/SE Symbolen angebunden. Eingene Symbole können lokal zur Wiederverwendung gespeichert werden.

Die aktuellste Version der Anwendung kann immer über JavaWebStart von der Homepage gestartet werden.

AtlasStyler basiert auf Java 1.6 und Geotools 2.4

The OGC SymbologyEncoding standard (often called SLD) defines a XML language to define styling rules for geodata. AtlasStyler is a Java/Swing WYSIWYG application which simplifies the creation of these rules. The user can load point, line of polygon features (only ESRI Shape at the moment) and define their appearance in a userfriedly way. No XML or SLD/SE knowledge is required. Methods like 'classification by unique values' or 'colorization of quantities' are provided. The classbreaks for quantative data can be set manually or calculated with 'equal interval' or for a given number of quantiles. AtlasStyler is connected to an online database of open-source SLD/SE symbols and the user can save/load his own artwork locally. 

The lastes version of AtlasStyler can always be started via JavaWebStart from the (german-only) webpage.

AtlasStyler is based on Java 1.6 and Geotools 2.4

The application is localized in German, English and Frensh.
