Subject: Open Source Framework in Adobe Flex/PHP

This is a new project that aims to assist developers in rapid 
development/deployment of GIS web applications.

FlexGIS is a GIS framework targeted towards web viewing that focuses on ease and 
usability, both for the developer and for the user. Out of the box, FlexGIS 
allows users to view and identify GIS features, along with all of the properties 
of these features. These features are rendered as images, overlaid onto Google 
Maps. FlexGIS, by default, allows users to perform rudimentary GIS analysis, in 
the form of feature identification. However, the true power of FlexGIS lies in 
the ease of its extensibility. The FlexGIS framework combines a flexible and 
powerful client frontend, a minimal server backend, and a spatially-enabled 
database, PostGIS, that works seamlessly with the rendering engine as well as 
the client application. Together, these components allow a developer deploying 
FlexGIS to create any sort of GIS application quickly and efficiently.
