[Freegis-list] simple font

I am searching for some sort of file that has the ASCII character set
as a set move/draw commands (eg move +3,+2; draw +2,-1 etc )

I need this for a street map application, and I need to be able to draw in
street names at any angle. All graphics libraries I've encountered so far
only allow drawing of text at 90deg increments.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
