Good morning FreeGIS world,
I have the honor to announce the release of:
FreeGIS CD v1.0.4 for GNU/Linux (i586 and ppc)
http://freegis.org/order.en.html
The minor increase in the version number might look small,
but it took us more work than anticipated in the last weeks to
finalise this release.
Now we can feature the known stable Free Software GIS tools in the
latest version and for a new architecture (PowerPCs).
This shows the power of Free Software: It even scales well on
several hardware platforms, securing your investment for years to come.
The changelog:
1.0.3 » 1.0.4
* In addition to the intel-compatible (i586) binaries the power pc
architecture(ppc) is supported.
* Basic documentation of the FreeGIS CD in French.
* GRASS: new version 5.0beta8 replaces 5.0beta6 (taken out: nviz
due to licence issues. r3.showdspf.openGL from the g3d subpackage
which requires a self-compiled version of Mesa which is not
available as standard RPM.)
* GMT: new version 3.3.5
* mapserver: new version 3.3.011
* gen2shp: new version 0.3.0
Reminder:
This CD is still aimed at experienced GIS users and interested developers.
It helps funding our FreeGIS project, though any other help is welcome, too.
We prefer that you order the CD, but the images and rpms will be available
from our ftp site with a limited bandwidth (we are still looking for mirrors).
The freegis webpage and this mailing list shall be an information
headquarters for truely free GIS and Geo Data.
This is a service for you, and we like to know how to improve it.
Thanks for your support,
Bernhard
