Hi again,

Kusos to Claus: I got the first data imported into GRASS (sorry,
my favourite GIS).

Conversion seems to run well with "extra_run" after specifying the
file in "extra_quellen".

As GRASS provides v.in.arc, I could import a first dataset. It's only
a little tricky to understand all the resulting files and their internal
links.

A sample GRASS call could look like this (after copying the needed files
into $LOCATION/arc/):

v.in.arc type=polygon lines_in=dom_f3000 points_in=edx_fl3000
  text_in=edx_objekte vector_out=edx idcol=1 catcol=3 attcol=2

A query delivers:
 d.what.vect edx
 3547956.55388471(E) 5802571.72932331(N)
edx in lamme Line - Category <not tagged>
 Area - Category 3501 N20B68E,
 Size - Sq Meters: 316775.790 Hectares: 31.678
            Acres: 78.275 Sq Miles: 0.1223

In GRASS 5.1 it will become fun when full DBMS-vector support is present.

Thanks again, Claus (and Jan),

 Markus
