[Freegis-list] Java moving map software for PDAs?

Before I go and write one I was wondering if anyone has come across
an open source Java application/applet to implement moving maps
on a PDA with a connected GPS receiver.

I recently bought a Compaq iPaq handheld and I would like to have
this capability. I know there is a Python program called PyGPS (?),
but I'm currently experimenting with the Java option as I would like
to have the option to run the software with either Wince or Linux
installed on the device.

Also can anyone think of interesting applications for a
PDA + GPS + maybe IEEE 802.11 or Bluetooth networking?
