Encapsulated postscript is a general format.
If you need to batch convert a lot of old files I would look into
them an think about writing a small script to do the convertion.

Otherwise the pstoedit http://www.pstoedit.net/pstoedit
is your best bet to get a format which you can work with using
other programs.
