[Freegis-list] How to display Swedish RT90 data and convert it?

Hi Daniel,
The name of the data files your mentioned hint that the data is
available in shapefile-format. There are several methods to look
at shapefiles. GRASS can import them. mapserver can use them.
I suggest openmap or sketch (including geo-object plugin)
to look at them first.
The RT90 seems to be a datum based on Bessel 1841 used with
Transverse Mercator (Gauss-Krüger) projects.
I am not sure if GRASS supports this directly, but is also might not
be necessary depending on your task.
If you only want to create nice looking maps without serious GIS
analysis sketch might be your best bet.
If you need serious GIS you should go with GRASS, but this will
require some learning as gis are not used for simple tasks.
