[Freegis-list] Geodatabases

Recently, I send a question to this list related to free or with public licence software similar to Map Objects. All responses pointed me out to the same address: the InovaGIS project (www.inovagis.org ). Now I am thinking instead of using Shapefiles, to use Geodatabases. Has some one experienced programming GIS software using geodatabases?

Any help will be welcome!
