I'm not aware of discussions about this.
Note that there are some big software spheres in the Free Software world
to build applications like Mozilla.
OpenOffice is another one.
HTML is obvious. :)
We at Intevation think that wxPython is an attratice cross-platform
development framework. What I saw about mozilla's use of
jave(?)script makes me think its a big ugly.
