No, your statement was correct regading the status of the _software_.

Even non-GNU GPL compatible licenses 
granting the necessary freedoms are Free Software licenses. 
Like I wrote in my first mail, the set of software is practically the same.
It ought to be this way because the OSI definition of "Open Source"
was meant to be a different description of Free Software
and as text was derived from the Debian Free Software Guidelines.

is helpful to understand this.

On the other hand your statement had a political component
which said you value the practical short term reasons (like cost)
higher that the larger social aspects 
(like being independent of large companies).
