  There're no shortage of free LISP interpreters for linux -- and
  presumably the same for Prolog.  For one thing, if you use emacs,
  that's essentially a text editor based on a LISP interpreter.  ;)

  Here're some LISP interpreters and resources that you'll find handy:

  - CMUCL, http://www.cons.org/cmucl/
  - Common LISP cookbook, http://cl-cookbook.sourceforge.net/
  - http://clocc.sourceforge.net/

  You might also have luck searching freshmeat.net and sourceforge.net
  for other OSS LISP, and for Prolog interpreters.

  As an aside, sawfish, the gnome window manager, uses librep, a
  simple LISP interpreter.  http://librep.sourceforge.net/
