I fear that this will not be easy technically.
Binaries highly depend on the system libraries which are very
different between distributions and even major release numbers
of distributions. If we want to have really stable software
especially with something like PostGIS it has to be adapted to the
target system.

Note that www.openpkg.org is the best solution to the problem that I
know, but it would only work for server packages.
