this always has been okay on this list, 
unless is missleads people.

This list gets a lot of new subscribers
and though we do have a mission statement,
it sometimes happens that people happily start recommending non-free software.
I found an off-list reply not to be effective enough in this situation.
A direct response to the list helps to clarify and saves times
by directly doing so.
Because I write many emails per day, my style sometimes is brief.
In this way I can often can help two person with an answer instead of one.
