Dear Colleagues,

Sorry for (possible) cross-posting, but I hope that this information (on
behalf of the Baltic Sea Regional Project - BSRP) will be useful for at
least some of you.

As one of the tasks specified in the BSRP GIS Coordination Center work
plan, a new Baltic GIS portal was recently launched at the Institute of
Ecology of Vilnius University. The internet link (temporarily) is this:
http://www.ekoi.lt/gis . New GIS data layers and postings are being
uploaded almost every day, so don't forget to periodically check it
later. All data available for download so far is FREE for registered
users. The ambition of this service is to integrate the GIS/RS - related
information, strengthen the community of GIS users and
process/distribute public domain databases covering the Baltic Sea
drainage basin, thus providing technical assistance to HELCOM, ICES and,
if necessary, EEA.

I hope you will find this service useful and contribute to its further
development with your advice, postings and information. We would also
appreciate if you publicize this service among your colleagues.

My best regards,

Gedas Vaitkus
BSRP GIS Coordination Center
Institute of Ecology of Vilnius University
