[Freegis-list] any free data for georeferencing/geocoding?

Hello,

This may sound like a vague question but I need to make a small tutorial on
georeferencing or geocoding free demographic data.  I was recommended
geographynetwork.com.

However, much of the data on the site is either not free or is already in
shapefile format (geocoded/georeferenced).

I am looking for some ASCII data that I can reference with TIGER data.

I need to do this with ArcGIS 9.0 Desktop (no ArcInfo Workstation).

Does anyone have any recommendations about what data would be approprate for
a geocoding or georeferencing tutorial in ArcGIS 9.0 desktop?
