Hi Nick,

Yes, I also thought about an OpenLayers or even a GeoExt Client. Thanks for the tip with the GeoRSS approach, in this (Disastermanagement) case it´s really much better to keep it all on an old-fashioned monolithic dektop client. ;)

As I had no chance to build up any OL Solution so far: Is it complicate to refresh the client automatically with some JavaScript? 

But nevertheless I need something to render at least the GeoRSS. I also like geoserver more, but on the other side UMN is fast and the MS4W Setup is pretty straight forward to get it up and running.

Also, geoservet is more powerful than the minesota map server, but that depends on your set up. The beauty of the OL set up is it's all client side
