I've commited this now. I did not remove the functions from
LegendTree which are not called anymore since we might
decide to move this functionality from the mainwindow
to the LegendTree.

This finally fixes also the bug that now the popup
menu item "Show Table" is greyed out when the layer has
no table to show.
