It should probably be kept.  The Matches method was used used in
Classification.FindGroup before I changed it to use the "compiled"
classification.  Currently the _compile_classification method only
supports ClassGroupSingleton and ClassGroupRange, so you'll have to
modify it to handle your new class.

I think it would be a good idea to introduce a default way to handle new
classifications in the compiler by simply using the Matches method for
the classifiers that the compiler doesn't know yet.
