Concerning the gdal intregration, in my sense, i do think it would be 
really important to be able to just follow the official gdalwarp.cpp 
file and have a simple interface to it. I've looked at the code, it's 
not easy to do it but ... let's think about it. I'm not a C or C++ expert.
