I believe that you got it right concerning Model/layer.py. Nothing
speaks for Model/map.py. I suggested it without having a deep look at
all the modules of the Model package. Regarding the content, this is the
best place to add it.

If this is ok for everybody, i'll patch the code this week-end to
integrate the new method.
