We have done a nice decision support system called Great-er with it:

Thuban is crossplattform and with a clear Free Software Strategy even for
windows. It uses best of breed libraries.
The table join support is something users like also the speed
and extensibility with a strong programming language.
We have also ussed Thuban to preprocess a complete map of Osnabrueck.
