No, I think something informal is okay for now to put your intentions on the 
record. The real solution then is to use the 
http://www.fsfeurope.org/projects/ftf/fla.en.html.

From whoever has the copyright, if there is any doubt that you would have the 
copyrights, a signed email from your employer would be helpful, just saying 
that you have the exclusive copyrights for your own work.
