[Freegis-list] Free GIS Software with open interfaces for applications

Hi,

for the development of a program i'd like to know wether there are 
free gis programs with open interfaces so that one can embed it into
other programs. Is there anybody who knows internet sites on which
such products are available or that lists or link to such sites.
