[Freegis-list] deegree WMS release

Hi,

The new release of the deegree Web Map Service has been published by 
lat/lon and the at the WG GIS of the Geogr. Institute of the University 
of Bonn. In addition with a client it is available at:

http://deegree.sourceforge.net/src/index.html

The deegree WMS has been developed in the context of the OGC Conformance 
& Interoperability Testing & Evaluation Initiative (CITE) and will 
become the official reference implementation of the OGC WMS 1.1.1 
specification. In Future each WMS which will be labeled as OGC WMS 1.1.1 
compliant must pass the test suite which have been developed in CITE. 
The deegree WMS has passed 100 of 100 tests successfully.

The deegree WMS comes along with several interesting features like:
- support of Styled Layer Descriptors
- automatic transformation of vector data into nearly 180 CRS if necessary
- access to WFS, WCS and other (cascaded) WMS as data source
- access to large raster data sets ( several GBs) through the deegree WCS
- rtee-indexing for shape files
- automatic and optimized label placement for point and polygon geometries
...

In addition we launched the first stable release of the deegree 
WMSClient that can be used with every WMS that bases on the OGC WMS 
1.1.0 or 1.1.1 specification. The client supports the usual map 
functions (ZOOM, PAN ...), layer selection, layer order changing, 
predefined projects and style selection for each layer.
