Why not using US data? There is plenty of maps, e.g. for the
famous "Spearfish" region in South Dakota:

http://grass.itc.it/data.html
-> data set in GRASS format
-> External related data sets

I also found high resolution road vector map, zip codes,
school districts, topographic sheets etc etc for that region
(URLs on demand).

In Europe it might be impossible to find a suitable
complete (!) dataset at time.
