The purpose of this list is to support Free Software.

Free Software on this list is defined by the four freedom put forward by
the FSF in the late 1980s[1].  "Open Source" is a failed marketing term
from 1998 trying to describe the same set of software by definition.

BTW, strictly speaking, it is not against Free Software asking for
personal details before allowing the download of software as those that
download it the first time receive the right to distribute the program
again.
