 Hi Bernhard,
  Thanks for your help.
 As you expected my apache configuration options for mod_fastcgi were
 incompleted. First I tried to pass the environment variables
 (PYTHONPATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH)
 using the directive SetEnv in my httpd.conf file. The script genmap
 failed when tried PIL.Image.new("RGB",..), because could not find the module
 _imaging. Using the directive FastCgiConfig -initial-env ... it works OK
