i went back to see if it was absolutely necessary to include
memdataset.h. it turns out that if i call a different method which is
exposed in the base class GDALDataset i don't need to include
memdataset.h. this is clearly much better since memdataset.h may not
appear in all development packages, even if was included in the debian
package.

i'm attaching another version of the diffs which include the changes.
