Why don't you start to work on the terraserver layer. If the AdjustScale
patch won't be added in its current representation it can most probably
be modified and the terraserver layer can be modified as well to work
on top of it.
In the long term Thuban has a cleaner codebase when modifications
in the core part are reviewed before.

I'd say work on the layer, and if the AdjustScale won't be accepted
as it is now, adjust the layer again (and again (and again (..)))
until everything fits.
